About

Pablo Tarantino is born in the vibrant cultural hub of Buenos Aires (Argentina), where he starts developing his love affair with music at a very early age, greatly influenced by the music that his older brother (a musician from the Buenos Aires scene) would introduce to him. Music is embed in his childhood and his music taste is shaped through the exposition to different genres and styles. Among his influences are jazz, funk, pop-rock, latin, folklore, fusion…

He recalls his first memory of the fascination for the drums already during his childhood, but it will not be until the early adolescence that he manages to get himself a drum kit and by listening to the greatest and trying to figure out what they are doing, he starts teaching drums to himself. That curiosity for the music learning process would never disappear and would not be limited to the drums, expanding to all aspects of music, making him really interested in other instruments (such as piano or bass), as well as harmony, arrangements, and composition.

When the change of century and new millenium is approaching he moves to Europe with his family, landing in Spain. Living in Valencia and Barcelona he studies at the Conservatori Liceu (Berklee School of Music) in Barcelona. These years will be crucial in his music life: he starts working as a musician and he gets involved in different projects, like Dum, Ibis or Laia Vehí and he records his first albums.
After his music studies he moves to different countries and lives in London, Bristol, Lisbon, Berlin and currently Leipzig, assisting to masterclasses with different artists such as: Richard Bona, Badal Roy, P. Metheny, M. League, Jorge Rossy, among others, and taking lessons with great drummers such as: Donald Edwards, JP Bouvet, Jeff Jerolamon, Pipi Piazzolla and Quim Solé, as well as taking part of music projects like Bristol-based band “Mutant Thoughts”, the afro-band Kelele, Diego Alejandro, Sly Chameleons or Vico Diaz Trio, among others.

Along these years his gathering of music and life experiences have shaped his personal sound and will be the compositions present in his first jazz album as a leader, expected to be out in 2024.
